sleep

...this much is true. Since becoming a mother, sleep has become a BIG issue. I am no longer a night owl. I've said goodbye to sleep-ins. I hope to see you again some day...sniff :'(

Our little one is not a great sleeper. He's getting better but it's never been easy. Until we moved him into his own room, he was a permanent resident in our bed. It's amazing how big such a little person can make himself to be. He is also ridiculously fidgety. As much as I loved our cuddles in bed, the truth was, none of us were getting a decent night's sleep.
Here is a small selection of his favourite positions and moves.

  1. Ahhh, totally! We are in the same boat, Mique. These are so great! At least you are getting inspired by this. I laughed so hard looking at these. I love all the details, like the different looks on your partner's face. The last one is hilarious. I'm trying to get my boys their own room set up. Broken sleep is terrible. Someday, we will look back on this and laugh, and miss these crazy days at the same time. Enjoy every moment. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks Mishea! Glad to hear we're not the only ones :) We shared a bed with our boy when we went away for the weekend a little while back, and I have to say, I don't think I miss it anymore...we all slept terribly! I'm definitely not getting enough sleep yet, but at least we're not getting kicked and wrestled anymore :P

    1. The wrestler is the worst!! He puts his whole weight on my face. How can that possibly be comfortable for him, let alone me??

  3. Brilliant! I love the fact that so many adults are being held to ransom by their mini me's. We are not at the bed sharing stage... yet.. but we are having to creep out of bed without making a sound lest we encourage out little person into thinking that it's time to play. I'm sure there is an illustration coffee book about the terrors of sleeping with children!

    1. Yes, we perfected the art of creeping away from the cot, the slow lifting and placing of the foot, knowing exactly where the creaky floorboards are. I felt ridiculous and frustrated every night, wondering why he couldn't just SLEEEEP!!! Hope your little one sleeps a bit better than ours!

  4. Oh my goodness, that is hilarious! My favourite image is the toxic hazard. Yes, I can relate to all the positions as our little boy seems to have an aversion to sleep as well. Thanks for providing a good chuckle!

  5. Hee hee! This really made me chuckle. We only had our daughter in our bed a few times because she would always find a way of head butting me or hitting me in her sleep. I would wake up in pain & she would be fast asleep! lol! I hope you start getting a good nights sleep soon, sleep deprivation is the worst thing ever. x

  7. Mique I love these. A distant memory for us now as Alfie is 9 but still remember how it felt! (I feel your pain! )
We still have to creep out of his room sometimes and as we've just moved we haven't mastered the art of knowing where the creaky floorboards are yet! Better get onto that one fast!
Hope you are keeping well ( apart from the lack of sleep! )

    1. Thanks Nicky! Lovely to hear from you :) I have to admit it was only the other day I crept out of their room on my hands and knees, edging towards the door backwards, ie. facing him so I'd be super quick with a reassuring response should he open his eyes...I felt absolutely ridiculous!!
Hope your move went smoothly and you are settling in nicely! We still have boxes and mess everywhere in a house that needs lots of work and we moved here a year and a half ago, arrrrghhh!!
      Take care xx
