Ooh special magazine!

I got a lovely surprise through the post this morning, a copy of dpi magazine from Taiwan yay!
I'm featured in this special edition, titled "Fairyland of Bologna Illustration". It's a collection of work by illustrators selected for the Bologna Illustrators' Exhibition over the years. I'm so pleased to be featured amongst so many talented illustrators :)
I'm a HUGE fan of Kumi Obata. Her etchings are so so beautiful!

Post!

I received a package from Japan yey!
Otani Memorial Art Museum, where the Bologna illustrator's exhibition will be during 22nd August to 27th September, have made memo pads with envelopes using my illustration!! I'm so pleased :)
In the bottom picture is my name in English and Japanese.
People often get my name wrong. I've had the odd letter incorrectly added or misplaced (Mariuchi, Moriguchi), new names and gender given to me, (Mike, Mick, Miko, Monique) and once, even a whole new identity (Monica Moropochi)! I wonder what she is like...

Bologna!

I was so happy when I found out my work was selected as part of the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition 2009. I worked on 2 new pieces to add to the 3 pieces from the Greenwich exhibition, to make a new set of 5.
I've been submitting work to Bologna every year since 2003, but never made the selection. Typically, this was the one year when I couldn't make it to the annual Children's book fair, as I had made other plans. Thank you to Justine from Arena, Yeshil from Yeowan Media and Asano-san from Hisakata Child for taking photographs from the exhibition :)
